Salt & Light

Salt and light are both important commodities in our lives and benefit us in many different ways, but one of their most important effects is complimentary. What do I mean by that? Well, both salt and light compliment the things they affect. Salt is used as a universal flavor improver because when added to food it will reduce bitterness, while also increasing sweet, sour and umami, which are the more desirable flavors. Without light we would never know how beautiful or wonderful something looks because light is what makes visible what can be seen.

Jesus in Matthew’s gospel says that we are the salt and light of the world. We have a responsibility to enhance this world by showing the world how it should really be. This is where our church gatherings come in. Once a week, we come gather to repeat our practices in worship and remember that though we may have been strangers in this life, we belong to another kingdom. The worship activities of our churches help, by Holy Spirit, to form us into more faithful citizens of that God’s kingdom and thus make us better citizens of this world.

Join us this Sunday for worship at 8:30 and 10:45 AM as we explore how we can be positive influencers in this world. We are salt and light but unless we are doing what we were made for what good are we?

In God’s grip,

Pastor Chuck Church
