What if We Do Something Extraordinary?
What is the most extraordinary thing you have ever done? How did you do it? What motivated you to do it? Do you know the difference between the ordinary things we do every day and the extraordinary? It’s the extra! To do the extraordinary we have to have extra passion, extra focus, extra effort, and extra faith.
When I think of extraordinary faith, the life of Moses comes to mind. The author of Hebrews also highlights an extraordinary faith in the life of Moses in Hebrews 11:23-28:
23 By faith Moses was hidden by his parents for three months when he was born, because they saw that the child was beautiful and they weren’t afraid of the king’s orders.
24 By faith Moses refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter when he was grown up. 25 He chose to be mistreated with God’s people instead of having the temporary pleasures of sin. 26 He thought that the abuses he suffered for Christ were more valuable than the treasures of Egypt, since he was looking forward to the reward.
27 By faith he left Egypt without being afraid of the king’s anger. He kept on going as if he could see what is invisible.
28 By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of blood, in order that the destroyer could not touch their firstborn children.
Imagine if Moses’ parents hadn’t done the extraordinary to keep him safe after his birth or if Moses had chosen to do the ordinary and listen to his inner voice telling him that he was incapable or incompetent to do what God was calling him to do. Moses chose to live a life of the extraordinary and forever changed the lives of the Hebrew people enslaved in Egypt.
We must also choose to do the extraordinary. When our inner voices try convincing us to take the easy road, we must instead chose the road less traveled. This Sunday, November 20th, we will be asking ourselves, “What if we do something extraordinary?” How will it change our lives? How will it impact our church and its mission? Join us as we embark on the extraordinary!
