COVID-19 and Our Church
Over these last few months, we’ve been watching the news about COVID-19. We’ve prayed we would not feel its impact. Unfortunately, we have.
Over these last few months, we’ve also been talking quite a bit about Jesus’ words to us – that we love God and love our neighbor. We’ve looked at the many ways we show our love to God including our time of worship; we’ve looked at the many ways we show our love of neighbor including our service. Which is why it was so difficult to come to the decision to only live-stream our worship for the next two weeks.
The church office will be closed this week. Footprints Preschool is on Spring Break. For information about small group schedules, please contact your small group leader. Please check with our web page and Facebook for updated information on scheduling.
In these uncertain times we find ourselves turning to Scripture to hear what God would say to us. I find myself turning to Jesus’ words in the Gospel of John: Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid. (John 14:27)
My friends, my prayer for you is that you don’t allow the fear of the world in this time to overtake you. Rather, let the peace of our Christ surround you in all you do.
And I also pray you take the common sense steps that have been recommended:
Wash your hands often and thoroughly
Practice social distancing
If you feel sick, stay home
Keep in touch with one another; care for one another
Pray for one another
Seriously – wash your hands
And may the peace of Christ surround you this day, and always.
Shalom,
Pastor Beth
