Anticipation!

This week’s pastor blog entry is a special entry by our Lay Minister, Virgil Aldag.

Last Sunday, volunteers, who responded to the church’s request for such, participated in a ‘practice session’ for training on the protocols for reopening of our church. Hand sanitizer stations, masks, and even gloves were a part of our protocol practice, to include ‘distance appropriate’ seating instructions for the ushers for worship in the Sanctuary. Can you even imagine worshipping again with all our members, visitors and guests? Can you imagine?

Let me help you imagine. The Worship Teams that have been bringing you our on-line stream of Sunday Services are quietly working throughout the services. Quietly, camera angles-and- direction changes are made and music leaders transition to their place of performance. People move from position to position, and the sequence of worship flows. And Pastor Chuck transitions in and out of the lectern area to guide each element; to oversee the orchestration.

Sitting in the back, last Sunday, I saw the heads of the volunteers. I heard their voices lifted in song and prayer. I was reminded of Psalm 126: 1-3. When the Lord brought back his exiles from Jerusalem, it was like a dream. We were filled with laughter, and we sang with joy. And the other nations said, “what amazing things the Lord has done for them.” Yes, the Lord has done amazing things for us! What a joy!

We cannot return, as yet, but soon. Our exile will soon be over. Let us rejoice! In God’s time we will gather once again, in the name of the Lord. Can’t wait to see y’all!
