Home for the Holidays
If you joined us this past Sunday, at either of our worship services, you may have heard the news that we will be pausing in-person worship at Lake Cities for the holidays. This wasn't an easy decision for myself and our administrative council at Lake Cities UMC. The truth is that everyone has done such a great job wearing masks, social distancing, and being safe at our worship services, that we believed that the chances of our worship services being a spreader event were low. Low but never zero. Our decision was based on the current strain our hospitals are under and our desire as Methodists to do good and do no harm. Our healthcare workers need our support and one of the best ways we can show that support is to stay home. So this holiday season Lake Cities is going to stay “Home for the Holidays!”
“Home for the Holidays with Lake Cities” is our theme for the holidays in 2020, our next sermon series, and what we are going to do to support frontline workers who are stressed even more this holiday season. The staff and worship planners of Lake Cities are going to working to be as creative as possible to make this a special Advent season and hopefully bring joy to you and your family at home this holiday season. In the coming days there will be a new place on our website with special opportunities for your family to enjoy the holidays from home with Lake Cities UMC. Thank you all for doing your part to make our world a better place!
Also, below is the letter from Bishop Mike McKee that I read to the congregation this past Sunday.
