Through our outreach ministries, we are, as a congregation, empowered
to expand God’s kingdom in and to the surrounding community. Our Open
Doors Ministry oversees our church website and has updated it to include
our mission and vision statements as well as an online payment option
for giving. In addition, through a hospitality team of over thirty families,
they work to ensure that first time contact with visitors is a positive
experience, that church signage and facilities are adequate, and that
all visitors feel welcome.
Footprints Preschool, a Christian education
ministry of our church, is one of the most effective outreach programs
at Lake Cities UMC, serving 92 families from the surrounding community.
With a staff of eighteen, they not only provide excellent preschool
education, but offer a Christian witness to these families as well.
Our Children’s Ministry provides an annual Vacation
Bible School program that not only educates, but also provides a safe,
fun, and creative environment for children in the Lake Cities area to
experience God’s love. This past summer 119 children attended, over
half of which were from outside Lake Cities UMC.
One Thursday per month, our ‘Golden Agers’
gather in our Family Life Center for food and fellowship. This group
has been gathering for over 20 years and has always provided a wonderful
opportunity for our seniors to gather together to eat, play and visit.
In addition to these ministries, we offer support to North Central Texas
College (NCTC) as a satellite campus, sponsor Boy
Scout Troop and Cub Scout Pack 424 and lend our facilities to Habitat
for Humanity, The Lake Dallas Cemetery Association, Spirit of Christmas
and several other community based groups.
